PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

Both experience and research informs the administration that a student’s education at DES succeeds best when there is a strong partnership between home and school, a partnership that thrives on communication.

1. Become familiar with the student’s school activities. The parent should discuss with the instructor or Office of the Registrar any questions they may have about the options and opportunities available to their child / children. The parent should monitor their child’s / children’s progress at home and meet with the instructors during scheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences that will be announced by DES.

2. Please refer the school calendar, everyday and countersign the remarks, if any, made by the respective instructor. Parents should utilize the ‘In Communication’ section provided in the school calendar to communicate with the respective instructor regarding all matters concerning his / her ward.

3. Parents are required to pay special attention to their child’s / children’s cleanliness and ensure that the student appears to the school everyday smartly dressed according to DGC.

4. All request letters from the parent to the school administration must either be typed or written legibly on standard A4-size paper accompanied by the signature of the parent. Letters that do not adopt these rules will be automatically disregarded and will not be given any further attention.

5. Any changes in residential address, telephone or email contact should be directed to the Office of the Registrar so as to update the DES Student Information System.

6. Parents should avoid criticism of any DES staff in the presence of his / her ward, because it undermines the student’s respect for the staff and the campus. This can in turn negatively affect the student’s record if he / she is detected to have being disrespectful toward any DES staff member and can lead to significant consequences including dismissal from DES.

7. Parents are requested to kindly co-operate with the school and do their part by enforcing regularity and discipline in their ward.

8. DES Management reserves the right to admit or refuse admission to any child and to revise the rules and regulations at any time, if deemed necessary.
